The 2008 Honda Classic teeing off on Thursday will see some of the world’s top golfers aiming for a positive start to the annual Florida Swing.
Ernie Els
Ernie Els will have something to prove at this year’s Honda Classic. Golf commentators are claiming that the former world number one has lost his edge, particularly after conceding big leads at both the Alfred Dunhill Championships and the Dubai Desert Classic in the past 6 months. While Els has retained his world number 4 ranking, he’ll a win to arrest a slow but steady slide into obscurity.
Angel Cabrera
Still glowing from a win at the 2007 US Open, world number 17 Angel Cabrera will be looking to maintain the momentum of his fairytale rise to golfing greatness. Having staved off world number one Tiger Woods to take a major, Cabrera’s newfound confidence and powerful driving game will make him the player to beat at the 2008 Honda Classic.
Justin Rose
Justin Rose is another play out to prove a point at the 2008 Honda Classic. Currently ranked number 7 in the world, Rose will be looking to take his first victory on the PGA tour. Noted for his excellent putting game, Justin Rose will need to tap the form that saw him win the European Order of Merit in 2007.
